Unlike general population, a high body-mass index (BMI) is considered a protective factor for patients in hemodialysis (HD). But BMI is an anthropometric parameter which doesnt allow distinguishing between patients lean tissue, fat tissue or total body water. Aim: To prove that the protection related to BMI higher than 25 Kg/m2 is dued to the presence of high body lean mass.
